OPM was born from a desire to create a responsible<\/strong> brand that celebrated the burgeoning sport of winging (wingfoiling, wingsurfing... see also winging it...), the colours and vibe that one can find living on a beach in North Wales, and with a salute to the pilots that come to train there. Let's not forget, a healthy admiration for the lyrical excellence of Mr Mike Skinner of The Streets too. <\/p> <\/p> THE IDEA: <\/strong>After a windsurfing and winging holiday in Vassiliki (shout out to our friends at Club Vass<\/u><\/a>), we worked with photographs of our (actual pilot!) friends wingfoiling, (by Miles Taylor check him out here<\/u><\/a>) to create the first graphic silhouette with those bright blues and acid yellows . It was supposed to be just a present for a friend, but soon the interest grew and Original Pilot Material was born.<\/p> <\/p> IDENTITY: <\/strong>Surrounded by the energy of the fast jets from RAF Valley in the air, and the enormous lift and enthusiasm that seems to emanate from people who spend their time on the water, we set out to create an identity that encapsulated that spirit, and also looked as good as a Rhosneigr sunset.<\/p> <\/p> DOING IT RIGHT<\/strong>: We chose Teemill to deliver our products as they provide a really brilliant take-back programme<\/strong> alongside printing in a zero-waste factory <\/strong>in the UK, and using remilled organic cotton<\/strong> wherever possible, and proper organic cotton otherwise. All our products can be sent back FOR FREE<\/strong> to be remade into something else so they don't end up in landfill. You just scan the QR code in the care label and rest is a cinch. You'll even get store credit to put towards your next item, so it's worth doing! We're largely print-to-order too, to limit waste from over-production. So we're doing whatever we can to make a better option for the fashion industry.
